La Salette of Aurora

La Salette of Aurora, one among the 10 La Salette schools in the province of Isabela is located in Aurora, Isabela, Philippines – a town west of Cabatuan across the ravaging Magat River, which continually erodes the town’s border taking away big portion of farm lands.

In 1952, the late Rev. Paul C. Drouillard, MS who was the parish priest of St Isidore, thought of putting up a school for the Catholic Families’ Children in his parish. His missionary spirit inspired him so much that he requested the bishop for an approval reached his hands in exchange for his prayers, sacrifices, inspiration and live for the catholic families.

In March 1952, La Salette of Aurora was incorporated as a non-stock, non-profit institution with the purpose of providing secondary education. On July 1, 1952, the school started operating with the total enrollment of 376. Since then, it continued to cater to the educational needs of the Western Isabelinos particularly Burgos, San Manuel and Aurora. During the succeeding years of operation, the school finally won the recognition of the Ministry of Education and Culture formerly Department of Education.

Since then, laymen had administered La Salette of Aurora with the parish priest acting as the director or Chaplain and Financial Consultant. Its development in terms of enrollment, buildings and facilities has been slow on account of the low socio-economic condition of majority of the population and relatively low school fees. In spite of these, however, the school had survived those critical years because of its developed reputation: high standard, discipline, religious education, its program consonant with Christian principles, and its commitment in building a Christian Community.

In keeping with the mission to spread the message of the Blessed Virgin Mary and its pursuit of academic excellence and service to the Filipino youth and its unequalled dedication to the promotion of the values of religion and culture of the Filipinos since 1952, La Salette of Aurora upholds and lives its philosophy of education which is on-going process of growth in freedom and in fullness of being, prepared for, lived and experience by the entire school community realized in the reconciliation, and integration of Filipino cultural values and those of Jesus Christ who came “so they have may life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10)

La Salette of Aurora since its humble beginning has helped many catholic families as evidence by many catholic professionals who are products of this honored institution like teachers, doctors, nurses, midwives, engineers, office and business holders, and of course, priest, brothers and sisters who work in the vineyard of the Lord. These same professionals have their children enrolled in the Alma Mater – a sound and loudable manifestation of their trust and confidence that La Salette of Aurora education can help mold citizens into self-reliant, self-disciplined and self-determined Christians who are willing to pass on to generations these same commitments and valued inheritance whether they are working here or in other places.
This bright future in the development within the near future coupled with the increasing population will certainly present pressure to the school like the accommodation of more students, granting of education privileges and opportunities for the poor, but deserving students.
